David Beckham and his partners plan to move ahead with the purchase of county-owned land in Overtown and will work to obtain approval for a stadium there, according to the Herald.

The Beckham partnership will be getting the land for a price likely well below market value, but the approval process for a stadium could be costly.

Terms of the sale also require stadium use and job creation on the Overtown property.

A stadium that would replace the Melreese Golf Course is still not assured, with two city commissioners firmly against approving it (one is term limited and will be out of office later this year).
